When transforming the culture of your organization to True Lean™, it’s vital to spread it to all areas, including administration. One of these is lean accounting. Including any support area reduces waste for that function, and improves the service provided, which also eliminates waste for operations. It also prevents excess staffing and spreads the culture, essential to a complete transformation. This course provides comprehensive understanding of the function of a lean accounting department in support of True Lean™.
What will I learn?
- the guiding principles for support functions
- the value contribution of accounting to True Lean™
- how to maximize that value
- key practices and examples
- how to improve efficiency and effectiveness applying True Lean™ principles
- evaluate the direction and method of accounting from a lean viewpoint
Do I have to have True Lean™ training to take this course?
While an understanding of the essence of True Lean™ is vital, you are not required to have prior lean training. The materials taught will include a review of the key elements and accounting as practiced at Toyota.
Plus a tour of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (TMMK) with a discussion and Q&A session included will tie all points of the program together.
Who Will Teach the Course?
Glenn Uminger, a former Toyota executive whose first role with the company was to lead the development of the management accounting function for TMMK during start-up. Glenn pioneered breakthrough practices made possible by the Toyota Production System.
