Visual control and 5S are a few of the successful elements in a lean system that is crucial in defining “normal” versus “abnormal”. Workers who can quickly identify problems in their work can take actions to prevent problems, keep issues from expanding and most importantly create a safe environment. Consequently, most companies who implement visual control and 5S have difficulty in standardizing, integrating and maintaining these systems. While most believe that success is contributed to discipline, diligence and persistence, Toyota shares a different view that has been working for well over 60 years.
The Lean Systems Group is offering a 2-day course in teaching Toyota’s fundamentals in achieving and sustaining visual control and 5S. Learn how Toyota establishes effective visual management systems that high light problems before they are problems and the role structures that are required for them to be supported and maintain. Participants will evaluate Toyota’s 5S work place organization techniques and understand the factors that are critical in its success. Lastly, learn how these techniques can be applied in various workplace settings that involve people doing work.
